INDIA Bloc–Manipur visits Khamenlok, meets bereaved families

A delegation of the INDIA Bloc–Manipur comprising of MPCC President Okram Ibobi, CLP leader K. Meghachandra and other leaders today visited Nongsum in the Khamenlok area and met the bereaved families of three civilians killed in the recent violence, condemning the killings and demanding accountability.

The delegation met the families of Ksh. Sushil Singh of Uyumpok, Arubam Ronil Singh of Nongsum Mayai Leikai and Lairenlakpam Inaobi Singh (53) of Lamboi Khul.

In a social media post, the INDIA Bloc–Manipur alleged that the continued killing of civilians exposed the government’s failure to maintain law and order and protect citizens. It questioned how armed movement and repeated violence could occur despite the ground rules of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) arrangement and related security mechanisms.

The delegation demanded a thorough investigation into any violations and called for those responsible to be held accountable under the law.

Stating that condolences could not substitute for governance, security and justice, the INDIA Bloc–Manipur urged the government to restore law and order immediately, strictly enforce the SoO ground rules and take steps to end the cycle of violence.
