Federation of Haomee calls for statewide noise protest on October 23

The Federation of Haomee has called for a statewide expression of public anger over the prevailing situation in Manipur, urging people to shout, bang utensils and honk vehicle horns between 7.30 pm and 8 pm on October 23.

The appeal was made in a video message circulated on social media from the western gate of Kangla Fort in Imphal, with the organisation calling for mass participation in the proposed protest.

The initiative seeks to provide people with a collective means of expressing their resentment over the prolonged crisis and the failure to restore lasting peace and security in the state.

Manipur has been grappling with ethnic violence since May 2023, leaving hundreds dead and thousands displaced. Despite changes in the state’s administration and repeated assurances of restoring normalcy, concerns over civilian safety, law and order and the continuing insecurity remain unresolved.

The Federation of Haomee has urged people across Manipur to join the 30-minute protest as an expression of public frustration over the prevailing situation.
