Indefinite curfew imposed at Pallel; Protestors demands for arrest of the culprits

Curfew has been imposed from Kakching Lamkhai to Pallel area and Aimol Tampak area following the spurt of violence erupted yesterday in protest against the killing of a person by unknown gunmen during a ritual procession yesterday evening. Early morning today large number of women folk came out at the street and tried to stage a sit-in-protest against yesterday’s firing incident. However, police team disperse the protestors resulting to short scuffle between the protestors and the agitators. The police team later fire tear gas shell and rubber bullet to disburse the crowd. In the police action two protestors identified as Oinam Tampha Devi and M. Khomba Singh of Pallel Mayai leikai sustain injury.
A protestor while condemning yesterday’s killing said that they do not want the Lamphel Police outpost as they personally said that they are not interested in protecting the live of the people but they are only interested in collecting money from the people.
