IMD warns of heavy rains & thunderstorms in Northeast

IT News
Imphal, June 14:

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory, forecasting substantial rainfall across the Northeastern states until June 18. Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected, particularly in western Assam and adjoining Meghalaya.
The advisory attributes these weather patterns to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and neighboring regions, along with another circulation over northern Bangladesh. Additionally, a trough extending from central Bihar to Nagaland, and another north-south trough in the lower tropospheric levels, are influencing the region’s weather.
Strong south-westerly and southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal are also contributing to the weather conditions in the Northeast.
The IMD predicts widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim over the next five days.
Residents and authorities are urged to prepare adequately to mitigate potential impacts. Locals are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take precautionary measures to ensure their safety and well-being during this period of adverse weather conditions.
