A powerful IED, planted by unknown miscreants today blasted near the residence of one Laishram Modhumangol (67) at Moirangkhom area at around 5.30 am.
The blast took place at the brick wall fencing of the resident. The impact of the blast was so strong that a portion of the wall splintered creating a hole and hit at a car parked inside the residential complex. Back wind shield of the car bearing registration number MN 01 S C 6564 was completely destroyed beside causing some destruction to the window of the neighbouring house belonging to one Sougaijam Premi (50).
Soon after the blast took place a barrel shot was heard from inside the resident of Laishram Modhumangol.
Modhumangol’ son Shitalkumar is a sub contractor. Speaking to reporters he said there was no threat or demand from any individuals or any organisations to the family.
On the other hand, a Meira Paibi leader while speaking to media person said that those responsible for the blast should clarify on why they are attacking the family.
“This is the fourth attack to the family, earlier in 2009 a hand grenade was blasted at the gate of the resident and in the same year another hand grenade was found and recovered by the police. Later in 2009 , Dec 30 unknown miscreants fired several round of gunshots to the family”, she said.
“This time we are staging a sit-in-protest but those organisation responsible should clarify over the matter”, she added.
She also questioned to those who plant the IED if it injured any of their relatives.
