IED blast injures 6 including minor

Imphal, July 12: An IED blast just 20 minutes after Chief Minister O. Ibobi crossed the spot injured 6 persons. The incident took place at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai along NH 2 at around 9.45 today morning just after 2 trucks of 40 AR passed the spot. The unjured persons were travelling to Usoipokpi from Imphal in an autorikshaw bearing registration no. MN-01-2550 which took the brunt of the blast right after the two army trucks overtook them. The injured were identified as Mayangmayum Alaudin (35) who was driving the autorikshaw, S/o Salaudin of Lilong Chingkham Maning,  Thongam Leibakmacha (62), S/o Khogen of Thoubal Khekman and his grandson Thongam Premchand (5 ½) S/o Jiten, Asem Bijoy (38) S/o Shyamkishor of Thoubal Khekman, Zao Rahman (24) S/o Zao Habibullah of Lilong Mairenkhul and Makakmayum Rabina (30) W/o Kabir of Lilong Usoipokpi. They were rushed to RIMS for treatment while Thongam Leibakmacha and grandson Thongam Premchand  were later referred to RIMS. All of them are stated to be in stable condition. The DGP and other top police officials rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. Interestingly, there have been heavy security arrangements along the highway as the CM is on a visit to Chandel to inaugurate the Mini Secretariat there.
