The protest by internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Lamboi Khongnangkhong entered its fourth day today, with demonstrators reiterating their demand to return to their homes.
During a visit to the protest site, Moreh Council Moreh (MCM) President M. Thoiba expressed solidarity with the IDPs and highlighted their constitutional right to return to their original residences. He stated that the community’s demand is rooted in the desire to rebuild their lives with dignity and security.
Representatives of the IDPs said they will continue their peaceful protest with the support of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), which has pledged to back the agitation until December 31. They further warned that if the government fails to fulfil its assurance of resettling the displaced persons by the end of December, they may launch a more intensified agitation.
IDPs have called on the authorities to act urgently, stressing that prolonged displacement has severely affected their livelihood, education of children, and overall wellbeing.
