IDP students demand removal of Guest Lecturer at MU, allege discrimination

A group of students from the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) community of Manipur University has submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor demanding the termination of guest lecturer Nambiram Amukumar from the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development (DVSSD), alleging acts of discrimination and hostile treatment.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club, members of the Internally Displaced Persons Students Welfare Association said the lecturer had repeatedly made “discriminatory and discouraging remarks” against IDP students, which they claim have severely affected their confidence and academic performance. They also alleged that he had been marking IDP students unfairly and discouraging their participation in departmental activities.
The association urged the university administration to take immediate action, stating that such behaviour contradicts the university’s principles of equality and inclusion. They warned that the continued presence of the lecturer could harm the morale of displaced and marginalized students.
The memorandum concluded with an appeal for justice and the restoration of a healthy and inclusive learning environment within the university.
