ICHAM extends financial help to victims of Khunthak Village blast

Information Centre for Hill Area Manipur (ICHAM) today extended financial support to the victim’s families of Khunthak village blast on Feb 5. the JAC against the blast is all set to initiate intensive agitations as soon as the ongoing class Xth and XIIth exams conclude as the government failed to fulfill their demands.Addressing a press conference today at a relative’s residence of the injured victim Hillary Keishing at Langol Mithung Ching, J. Mayarmi, Convener, JAC against bomb blast at Khunthak on 5th Feb, 2015 said that a memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister on Feb 12 demanding to restore a central security post at Kasom Khullen for the safeguard of the villagers since such blasts occurred at the village for the third time and also to give ex-gratia of Rupees ten Lakhs to the family of the deceased and Rupees five Lakhs to the family of the injured giving a dateline till today. The convener also declared that an intensive agitation will follow once the ongoing Xth and XIIth examinations conclude.Speaking to media, NK Sophia, wife of the deceased NK Addison, said that she is very much disappointed with the state government as no one has come to extend any help to her family while the Chief Minister visited the families of the Masjid blast on 18th Feb which made her to feel like an outsider in her own state.While extending financial support of Rupees five thousand to each of the families of the victims, N. Boy President, ICHAM, said the failure of the state government to meet the demands of the JAC is a clear symbol of its inability to administer the law and order in hilly areas. He further said that ICHAM will take part and extend support in any agitations taken up by the JAC in future.
