Imphal, April 20:
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal signed MoU with Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad for research on DNA fingerprinting and genomics of medicinal plants of North Eastern Region.
CDFD, Hyderabad is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and computing infrastructure to facilitate research and development in frontier areas of modern biology and DNA fingerprinting of plants.
IBSD is working on documentation, evaluation and validation of traditional practices and development of bioresources of NER under the leadership of Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal. IBSD has already signed MoUs with many institutes for human resource development and to enhance the research activities in this region. During the programme, Dr. K Thangaraj, Director, CDFD, scientists and staffs from both the institutes were present. This collaboration will help in development of genome resources for medicinal plants and capacity building of scientists/ students of NER in future.
