Imphal, Feb 8:
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal organized a workshop for exploring genomic resources of the North Eastern Region for the development of bioeconomy from bioresources. During the programme, Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director of IBSD highlighted various initiatives of the institute for the development of bioresources. He mentioned that genome sequencing of bioresources is important for proper authentication and characterization of germplasms. He highlighted that IBSD and NIBMG have joined hands for genome sequencing and exploring genomic resources of the region.
The chief guest of the programme, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University appreciated the initiatives of IBSD for conducting such a workshop at Imphal. He mentioned that economic transformation is only possible through multidisciplinary R&D activities in academics/ research institutes.
