Imphal, Dec. 8: Indo ASEAN Friendship Organisation, Manipur (IAFOM) congratulates Professor Aribam Devdutta Sharma on his promotion of Gastrointestinal Surgery RIMS with retrospective effect from 1st Feb. 2013.
Indo ASEAN Friendship Organisation Manipur has been doing numerous activities to enhance the friendly relation with the neighbouring countries like, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia through cultural activities, sports, trade and commerce specially Medical Tourism. Dr. Aribam Devdutta Sharma is one of the sympathiser who patronised and rendered active support to the cause and ideas of IAFOM in its Medical Tourism.
DR. A. Devdutta Sharma MCH has became the first ever Professor of Gastrointestinal Surgery in the whole North Eastern India. He did his graduation (MBBS) from the premier Central Institute of South India, JIPMER with distinction and then obtained his post-graduation (MS Degree) in General Surgery and topped in the MS Exam in 1998 from the same institute, thereby the youngest surgeon of the state. Then he obtained the most coveted super specialist degree in surgery, namely MCH (Gastrointestinal Surgery) from the prestigious Central Institute, AIMS and also topped the MCH examination again, bringing recognition to the state of Manipur. Thus, he became the first MCH-GI Surgeon of the entire North Eastern Region.
He is also the Honorary Secretary of Super speciality Society of RIMS (SSR) and the Secretary of the National Medicos Organization (NMO), Manipur ;Unit.
It is informed that the organisation would approach the RIMS authority to provide a separate OPD, Ward, OT and faculty room for GI surgery and minimal invasive surgery, thereby availing the poor people of Manipur and even neighbouring states & countries of the much needed super specialities services in surgery in RIMS with low expenditure to enhance Medical tourism in the state.
