Humanism Foundation calls for collective action on environment protection

While resolving to create mass awareness across the state on environment protection Humanism Foundation has called all sections of the society to work collectively in preserving the ecosystem.

It was made during a state-level virtual conference of youth leaders, members of local civil society organisations on Saturday in connection with the celebration of World Environment Day 2021.
During the conference, Dr. Binota Thokchom, DST Faculty member, Forestry and Environment Studies, Manipur University, who attended the meeting as an invited resource person highlighted the present ‘pathetic’ management of the environment as well as the situation of water resources in Manipur.
The resource person also mentioned that the state of Manipur is far behind in all aspects of environment protection; there is an urgent need for a collective resolution among the people to conserve natural resources, environment and repair the reverse trends.
Highlighting the changing trends of the ecosystem around the state of Manipur, other participants called for result-oriented measures and policies to preserve the environment on urgent basis.
As part of its annual event, Humanism Foundation has also planted trees in different parts of the state on Saturday. The NGO has also launched its ‘one home, one tree’ campaign to plant at least a tree in every home on the day of world environment day.
