Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today inaugurated the 1st Manipur National Horti Expo -2015 at MFDC. The expo was jointly organised by ICAR and Central Agriculture University (CAU). Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister appealed the academicians and the scientist to encourage the farmers of the state in producing more crops. He said the farmers of the state are facing lots of difficulties in producing more quantity of crops as the spirit of work culture has been lost to the people of the state. He said the cost for harvesting of crop is now becoming more and the farmers now hardly get any profit. The Chief Minister further said that the hill region of the state is most suitable for horticulture crops and appealed the expert to find a way to produce more fruit crop. He said the state is potential of producing the fruit crop as it has been gifted with some kinds of uniqueness. The Chief Minister cited example of Kachai lemon, Tamenglong orange and other flowers like Dzuko Lily, Siroy Lily etc. which is found only in the state.
