Two youths who were allegedly hired by a person had murdered a groom who was waiting to marry the girl on November 23 this year. The deceased groom has been identified as Konthoujam Sanjoy Singh ( age 25) son of Konthoujam Joy Singh of Arapti Lilong Mapal Thongkhom. There were injury marks at his head and abdomen. His dead body was found mercilessly murdered near Lilong Bridge at Shantipur area at around 8 pm yesterday under Singjamei Police.
One among the two youths was nabbed by the locals of the area. He has been identified as Hoabijam Thouba Meitei (23 years old) son of H. Aheiba of Thanga Karang Maning Leikai from close proximity of the site where the dead body was found at around the same timing when it was found. The other murderer, identified as Aheiba Naoba (23 years) son of H. Jayenta of Thanga Karang Maning Leikai, reportedly escaped.
As revealed by the person nabbed by the locals, both were hired by a third person to kill the deceased. The third person reportedly has an affair with a girl where the deceased had eloped and waiting for marriage. The marriage date has been fixed on November 23 this year.
The person has been later handed over to Singjamei Police station.
A JAC against the killing of the groom has been formed and demanded immediate arrest of the person who hired the two youths as well as the other youth escaped from the site. The JAC also resolved not to accept the dead body until the murderers were book under the law of the land.
