The Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN), District Council Jiribam celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day with a vibrant ceremony that included the prize distribution for the inaugural District Level Khangminnasi Eramdam Quiz Competition. The event took place at Municipality Multi Purpose Hall, Jiribam and was attended by a distinguished gathering of dignitaries and invitees.
The program was honoured by the presence of N. Budhachandra Singh, a well-known social activist, who served as the Chief Guest. His inspiring words emphasized the importance of education and community engagement in fostering and preserving cultural heritage for a brighter future for the youth of Jiribam.
Senjam Sainik Kumar Singh, the President of HERICOUN Jiribam District Council, took on the role of Functional President for the event. He expressed pride in the achievements of HERICOUN over the past 23 years and highlighted the organization’s commitment to promoting educational initiatives in the region.
He also emphasized that HERICOUN is dedicated to preserving cultural heritage and addressing significant issues in Manipur.
N. Nivarani Devi, President of WASED Jiribam District Council, joined the event as a special guest, alongside other esteemed guests including Hamom Dhoni Meetei, Advisor of HERICOUN; Phundai Rongmei, Vice President of Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak; and Ngangom Romen Luwang, President of the Young Manipuri Council Assam.
The highlight of the day was the prize distribution ceremony for the quiz competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from various educational institutions across the district. R.K. Sanatombi Vidyalaya emerged as the champion, securing the first position with an impressive performance. Jiribam Higher Secondary School claimed the second spot, while Highway English School proudly took home third place.
The quiz competition aimed to encourage critical thinking and knowledge among students, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and collaboration. The event not only celebrated academic excellence but also aimed to strengthen and brings awareness about preservation of cultural heritage through educational initiatives.
As the ceremony concluded, the leaders encouraged students to continue striving for excellence in their studies and to actively engage in community service. HERICOUN’s commitment to education and social development remains unwavering, as they look forward to many more years of impactful work in Jiribam and beyond.
