Imphal, June 30: Heavy rains trigger flash flood in Imphal today. Many places in Imphal inluding Uripok, Sagolband, Lamsang and Seijang have been flooded as Nambul river and iril river overflow. This is the second time that the state is facing flood in the past one month. Flood water inundated Uripok Kangchup road near Birtikendrajit Flyover. Almost all houses were inundated. At MI road, failed drain constructed on the sides of the road had compiled water on the road creating inconvinient to vehicular movement. The drain on the side of the road has been constructed newly after the dain which was constructed earlier had failed. The newly constructed drain too is of no use as it failed to drain out the rain water. Nambul River is also flowing much above the flood level and at some places water overflow, inundating many roads and houses. Drainage constructed at the roadside of Tiddim road too has failed to drain out rain water from the road. At many places including Takhel leikai, Kwakeithel, etc. water compiled on the water creating inconviniences to vehicular movement. Last month too cyclone Moro effect had reached Manipur and Many places have been flooded. Khurai area was reported the worst hit by the flood. Later in the following days Many places in Mayang Imphal have been flooded leaving 100 of people homeless. Now the flood at Nambul river will add another burden to the people of Mayang Imphal as it will once more flood .
