Heavy exchange of fire reported between armed militant groups in Kangpokpi

A heavy exchange of fire was reported between two groups of armed Kuki militants in the Mark Top Hill range area of Kangpokpi district under Saikul Police Station today morning, according to reliable sources.
Sources indicated that the gunfight took place between cadres of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) and the Kuki National Front (KNF-MC), though official confirmation from the authorities was still awaited at the time of filing this report. The exchange of fire was reported to have occurred around mid-morning.
There were no reports of casualties from either side as of now. Following the incident, state police personnel along with central security forces rushed to the area and carried out an on-site assessment of the situation.
Security forces have been put on alert in and around the area to prevent any further untoward incidents and to maintain law and order.
