The Hill Areas Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly has stated that there is a procedural error in the declaration of the Reserved Forest after 1972.
In its meeting held on March 11, the HAC resolved that there is a procedural error in the declaration of reserved Forest after 1972.
“Any declaration of Protected Forest, Reserved Forest and Wild Life Sanctuaries on or after June 20, 1972 shall not be enforced by the department until the approval of the Hill Area Committee, since it pertains to Scheduled Matters of Article 371 C of the presidential Order of 1972”.
The meeting also resolved that forest territorial Maps should be made at par with the existing Revenue District Boundaries for administrative convenience.
