On the occasion of Independence Day, 2015, Governor of Manipur, Dr Syed Ahmed has greeted auspicious occasion to the people of Manipur.
“The country has been celebrating Independence Day on the 15th of August every year and it was on this day, 68 years ago in the year, 1947 that the country shook off the yoke of the colonial rule and became independent to decide its own destiny. This freedom, however, did not come to the people of the country easily. It came after years of struggle and supreme sacrifices made by our countrymen the freedom fighters,” said the governor in a release.
“We should all work as one in the true spirit of a democratic country to bring about emotional integration and equal development for all leaving no room for any sense of discrimination. On this auspicious day, let us remember those brave souls who secured our freedom and renew our pledge to protect this precious gift as well as contribute selflessly for the well being of the citizens of a free India”.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwar Singh also greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion.
Referring to the India’s independence movement, the Speaker appealed all to work together and stand united.
