Governor reviews pension backlog Online Processing System to be launched soon

Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Saturday chaired a meeting at Raj Bhavan to address backlogs in processing pensions for retired government employees.
The meeting discussed issues relating to sanction and payment of pensions, challenges in processing, and measures to streamline the pension process. Chief Secretary, Secretary to the Governor, and senior officers from the Treasury, AG Office, and Pension Cell were among those present.
Special Secretary (Finance) Neilenthang Telien made a detailed presentation on the upcoming Online Pension Processing System, which will digitize the existing manual process. The system will enable end-to-end digital tracking of applications—from Drawing and Disbursing Officers to the AG Office and Treasury—with all documents digitally signed. Pension processing will also begin one year before an employee’s retirement, using the Employee Identification Number (EIN) for tracking applications.
The Governor directed officials to clear the pending backlogs at the earliest. This initiative is part of a series of welfare measures taken for government employees since the imposition of President’s Rule earlier this year.
