Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Governor-designate of Manipur, arrived in Imphal today to a warm reception. A welcome program was held at the Raj Bhavan, attended by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh, various Ministers, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, Director General of Police, and other senior officials. Personnel from the Manipur Rifles and the India Reserve Battalion accorded a ceremonial Rashtriya Salute in his honor.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new Governor is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan.
Earlier, Bhalla landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, where he was warmly welcomed by a delegation of senior civil and police officials, led by the Chief Secretary and the DGP.
