Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, chaired a high-level review meeting today with officials of the Municipal Administration, Housing & Urban Development (MAHUD) at the conference hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal. The meeting focused on the progress and strategic direction of the ongoing Clean Imphal City Campaign.
During the session, Principal Secretary of MAHUD, RK Dinesh Singh, along with Director Ng. Uttam Singh, delivered a detailed presentation highlighting key components of the campaign. Their presentation covered critical sectors such as municipal waste management, solid waste collection, and its transportation and disposal mechanisms. They also shared the challenges being encountered on the ground, while putting forward innovative solutions and actionable strategies to improve overall efficiency.
The MAHUD officials presented a comprehensive roadmap to the Governor, outlining the way forward to build a cleaner and more sustainable Imphal. The plan reflects a firm commitment to overcoming infrastructural and logistical hurdles in waste management across the city.
Discussions also extended to smart waste management initiatives including bioremediation of legacy waste, implementation of Waste-to-Energy (WtE) technologies, renovation of the Lamdeng Solid Waste Management Plant in Imphal West, and the development of a new processing plant in Imphal East district.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the MAHUD team and encouraged the department to maintain momentum in making Imphal a cleaner and greener city.
