With just 21 days left, state government has finalized all arrangement for smooth conduct of Sangai Festival. However, with the inability to complete the Sanjenthong Bridge before the Sangai Festival Imphal is likely have the greatest nightmare of traffic congestion. The incomplete works of road widening works in Tiddim road is an additional burden to the state government. The state government this time has taken special care for all the section and convened special meeting for making up all the loopholes.A meeting of the organizing committee of Manipur Sangai Festival, chaired by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has agreed to sanction rupees 6,38,072 to MAHUD for expenditures related to cleaning and sprucing main venue of Festival areas and major roads of Imphal city. Taking serious concerns of the present law and order condition of the state the state police department has been provided a sum of rupees 20 lakhs for installation of CCTV and metal detectors in and around the festival site. Another sum of rupees 20 lakh has also been sanction to traffic police department for procuring of sign boards, Barricades, ropes, illustration showing parking places and guides to the venue.With the works for construction of Sanjenthong fails to complete in time the meeting of the organizing committee chaired by the chief minister discussed in depth about the possible outcome of situation. Later, the meeting has agreed to renovate various traffic points located at Imphal East and Imphal West including Kwakeithel Junction, Keishampat Traffic point, Nityapat traffic point, Singjamei traffic point North AOC traffic points Khuyathong Traffic points , LIC traffic point , Raja Dumbra School traffic point etc.On the other hand the state PWD department has been directed to complete black topping and widening work of all alternative routes that will lead to the Sangai festival venue at Hatta Kangjeibung before November. The alternative route includes road leading from Moirangkhom to Hatta Kangjeibung by passing Thombuthong and the one coming through Minuthong Bridge.Delegates from the Chin state of Myanmar will be treated as special guest by the organizing committee. The state home department has been directed to provide all necessary arrangement for their safety.Name of the cultural troupes performing in the festival has been finalized by the TA and Hills Department.One good news for those in the field of arts and croft and handloom sector is that the Commerce industries department is providing 50-60 stalls separately as Manipur Pavillion Block to showcase Arts and crafts , food and handloom products without charging any fees. Besides a separate block to showcase photographs, Maps and photo displays and World War II will also be open with association with the World War Campaign Foundation Manipur.
