Generation X Nat Sankritan to be performed

Sadin Laandin Pung, a Musical instrument which was first produced by the son of Ibudhou Pakhangba during 33 AD will be used in an experimental fusion musical concert.Secretary, Yumjao Mayum Living Art Academy, Y. Bhumeshwar Singh said to media persons in a press conference today at Manipur Press Club that the Academy which is comprised of only youth singers was formed with the objective of teaching the younger generation about Nat Sankritan with the mixture of fusion music. He added that the younger generation get bored listening to the old traditional style of Nat Sankritan music hence adding fusion to it without making any changes to the tune will entertain the youth. With this aim the Academy is organising a musical concert which will last for 45 mins at BOAT on 17th August. Bhumeshwar further added that the theme of the musical concert is Layan Tarita which is a very old Raga system of Natya Shashtra. 10 different musical instruments including Sadin Landin Pung which was used in 33 AD during the reign of Ibudhou Pakhangba’s son, Khuyoi Tompok, Tanyei Pung, Meitei Pung, Dholak,Langdeng, Senbung, Guitar, Keyboard, etc. will be used in the musical concert.
