G-5 announces indefinite ban on two petrol pumps in Thoubal and Bishnupur districts

The Finance Committee of the G-5, a conglomerate of five outlawed groups—Kangleipak Communist Party, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak–Pro and the United National Liberation Front led by Koireng—has announced an indefinite ban on two petrol pumps with effect from February 1, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the G-5, the ban applies to Sorojini Oil Pump located at Wangbal Canal Mapaan in Thoubal district and M/s Elidas Fuel Station located at Moirang Thana Leikai in Bishnupur district. The statement appealed to the public not to purchase fuel from the two outlets.
Explaining the reasons for the ban, the statement alleged that the owner of Sorojini Oil Pump, Thokchom Jadumani, on November 26, 2025, attempted to hand over a member of the G-5 to the Manipur Police Commando through his escort in connection with a demand of Rs. 1.5 lakh as annual contribution. It further claimed that the escort allegedly assaulted the G-5 member, following which the member resisted and fled after snatching a weapon and a Gypsy vehicle. The statement added that the weapon was later dropped at the oil pump premises, while the vehicle was left at Heirok. The G-5 alleged that Thokchom Jadumani has continued to oppose the group for the past two months and has not complied with its demands.
Regarding M/s Elidas Fuel Station, the statement alleged that its owner, Konjengbam Jiten of Moirang Thana Leikai, refused a demand of Rs. 1.5 lakh as annual contribution and instead sought security protection, which the group described as an open challenge. The G-5 claimed responsibility for an explosion at the fuel station on January 8, 2026, while asserting that no one was injured in the incident. The statement further alleged that Konjengbam Jiten has continued to assist the police by providing information leading to the arrest of G-5 members and has campaigned among other fuel station owners against the group.
The statement maintained that the G-5 does not impose excessive monetary demands on contractors, businessmen or private sector entities, asserting that contributions are sought based on capacity and profit. It also claimed that the group considers itself entitled to collect taxes and take action against those who fail to comply. The G-5 appealed to the public to support what it described as its movement and objectives.
