Imphal, Sept 24:
At least four people were injured, and several vehicles were damaged in a road accident this morning when a Tata Shaktiman truck ran over a parked Maruti van and several two-wheelers at Khoirom Makha Leikai under Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district.
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 9:15 a.m. The Tata Shaktiman truck, bearing registration number MN01 4968 and driven by an unknown individual, was traveling from Yairipok Bazar towards Yairipok Khoirom when it collided with a white Maruti van (Regd. No. MN09A 0580), a Honda Activa, a red Honda Grazia (Regd. No. MN01AL7101), and a light blue NV scooter (Regd. No. MN B3251). All vehicles were parked on the roadside in front of Golden Pillar Foundation School along the Yairipok-Chandrakhong road.
The impact severely damaged the Maruti van and the Honda Grazia, while the Tata Shaktiman and other two-wheelers sustained partial damage. The drivers of the affected vehicles, except for the Tata Shaktiman, suffered injuries and were immediately transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
The injured individuals have been identified as Hidungmayum Saratchandra Sharma (45) of Yairipok Khoirom Mayai Leikai, Haobam Shyamsunder Meitei (37) of Khoirom Makha Leikai, Laishram Ibomcha (40) of Khoirom Makha Leikai, and Saikhom Geetchandra Singh (30) of Khoirom Mayai Leikai.
All the involved vehicles have been taken to Yairipok Police Station for further investigation and formalities.
