Forest Fire at Dzuko

A forest fire that broke out since March 10 at Dzuko Valley is reported to have been still raging and has been advancing towards southern Dzuko and along the ridge above Viswema village. Nagaland base newspaper reports about the effort being taken up Nagaland government officials and civil society organisations however no effort has been notice taken up by Manipur government authority even as portion of the valley belong to the state. To contain the raging fire, around 70-80 volunteers from Nagaland left for Dzuko Friday early morning. Even as the fire is reported at the other side of the state it is everybody’s understanding that impact of devastation on forest and environment has no boundary and there is no guarantee that the fire will not bring any damage to the state of Manipur.
