Flaw alleged in the implementation of High Security Registration Plate

Regarding flaw in implementation of High Security Registration Plate in the state a discussion was organised today by Human Rights Defender Manipur (HRDM) at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.Speaking to media, Chairman, HRDM, Chingakham Joy alleged that the amount of money charged for the registration by the state transport department along with a private company is very high comparing to other states. He added that when other states charge only around 100 to 300 for two wheeler vehicles, in the state the department charge around above 600. He also said that the security chips to trace the vehicle has not been installed which make no sense of registering number plates. He questioned where did the huge amount of the money collected by the department along with the company has been kept at the government coffer or individual pocket and added that tentatively around 4 lakhs vehicle’s owners are there in the state. He warned the department and the company should refund the excess amount acquired by them in the public interest. He added that such flaw is gross violation of human rights.
