A significant quantity of Indian-made foreign liquor was seized and destroyed in Soibam Leikai, Meri Leirak yesterday. The liquor was reportedly confiscated from the residence of Ningombam Binoy Singh, son of late Rajo Singh. Following the seizure, the liquor was set on fire and destroyed by concerned individuals.
The operation was carried out by Village Volunteers of Imphal East. They have emphasized the detrimental effects of alcohol on the health and well-being of society. The group highlighted the urgent need to tackle the increasing use of illegal liquor, which they believe is undermining the fabric of the community.
Expressing their concern, members of the group stated that the availability of such substances poses a significant risk to the youth, potentially leading them down a destructive path. The action was taken as part of their commitment to eradicating harmful substances and promoting a healthier, safer environment.
The destruction of the seized liquor was carried out in the presence of community members. The village volunteers appealed to the public to remain vigilant and to cooperate in efforts to make their locality free from illicit liquor and its associated harms.
