Manipur High Court has directed the President, Board of Governors of Regional Institute of medical Science (RIMS), Imphal to pass necessary order by following the required laws of the land while relieving Dr. Sinam Sekharjit from the post of Director, RIMS, within three weeks times. The court also directed the Board to allow Dr. Sekharjit to discharge duty as the director of RIMS if the authority failed to follow the court directives within the given period.
The HC order reads as follows – “ The Writ petition can be disposed off directing respondent No. 2 to pass necessary order in terms of rules and regulations of writ petition within three weeks from the date of communication of this order or allow the petitioner to discharge duty of director -in-charge  of his appointment order on the expiry of 3 weeks from the date of communication of this order in terms of rules and regulations”.
The order was passed today by the Chief Justice of Manipur Lakshmi Kanta Mahapatra.
Following the order it is likely that Dr. Sekharjit is likely to return as the director of RIMS as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has failed to appoint a regular director after he was relieved from the duty as the director of RIMS. After Sekharjit has been relieved from the post of the director , Dr. Arunkumar was appointed as in-charged director and later after his expiry as Director-in-Charge, Dr. Rita has been looking after as in-charge director until a new regular director has been appointed.
It may be noted that after Dr. Sekharjit was relieved from the duty of director by an order of the Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare government of India on August 25, 2014. Since then he was put under circumstances which does not allowed him to move as the word relieved have confused his status.
