The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) has issued a pressing call to the state government to promptly tackle the obstacles confronting the state police stationed in border town Moreh in Tengnoupal district. In a statement released by FOCS’s Secretary, it was emphasized that the failure of senior police officers to address these challenges could significantly impact the morale of the police forces stationed in the region.
The statement underscored a concerning development where a Chin-Kuki organization based in Moreh has reportedly instructed shop owners not to sell products to the state police. This directive has led to escalating difficulties for the police forces already grappling with numerous challenges. Additionally, the shortage of essential medicines and medical personnel has exacerbated the situation, further hampering the forces’ effectiveness.
The statement also pointed out a noticeable silence from police officers during ambushes involving sophisticated weapons and routine patrols, which has contributed to a decline in morale among the ranks. FOCS has urged the state government to address these issues promptly to prevent further demoralization within the police forces stationed in Moreh.
FOCS called upon the state government to deploy the newly acquired Casper vehicles in the red zone rather than allocating them to Imphal city. This strategic deployment, as suggested by FOCS, aims to enhance security measures in areas facing heightened security challenges.
