FNCC indefinite blockade enters 16th day amid government silence

The indefinite blockade called by the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) entered its 16th day today, with no response yet from either the Government of India or the Government of Manipur. The FNCC has repeatedly highlighted its demands and grievances through a series of memorandums submitted to both governments, drawing attention to what it terms as urgent issues affecting the Naga communities.
On July 28, a meeting was convened at the Police Headquarters in Imphal, where senior police officers met with FNCC representatives to discuss the ongoing agitation. At the core of the demands is the call to ensure that there are no Suspension of Operations (SoO) camps in Naga areas, an immediate halt to what the FNCC terms as illegal construction of the German and Tiger roads, and a complete stop to illegal poppy cultivation in Kangpokpi district.
The FNCC has also warned that any attempt to create a separate administration for the Kukis must not encroach upon Naga ancestral land, cautioning that any such move could reignite violence and instability in the region.
Despite these assertions, the state and central governments have remained unresponsive, prompting the FNCC to continue its indefinite bandh, stating it will not retreat until its demands are met.
