CNPO reaffirms support for framework agreement

The Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO), representing the 11 Naga tribes of Chandel district, reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015. The reaffirmation was made during the 10th anniversary observance of the agreement on Saturday.
In a press statement, the CNPO demanded immediate implementation of the Naga solution based on the Framework Agreement, a halt to the coercive construction of border fencing, revocation of the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR), and official recognition of the Naga Constitution and Flag.
The commemorative event was attended by leaders from 11 Naga Tribe Hohos, ANSAM, NSUC, women’s unions, and other civil society groups. A special mass prayer led by Rev. Shonnai Saka, President of the Chandel Naga Christian Forum, was held for Naga leaders. Notably, the Framework Agreement was translated into all 11 tribal dialects and read out in churches across Chandel.
