They have launched the indefinite fasting against the state government’s failure to produce a Bill within the deadline set by JCILPS and implement a permit system for protection of indigenous people in the state, according to Surjit, who is also the Convenor of Joint Students Union of Government Higher Secondary School.
He also said that instead of introducing a Bill the government is playing the delaying tactics all these days. The demand for implementation of Inner Liner Permit is the will of the people. The government needs to act positively in accordance with the will the people.Unluckily, the state government stands out as anti-people. Student protestors including women are mercilessly assaulted by state security forces. School, colleges were closed down in order to prevent them participating in democratic protest demonstrations, he added.
While, Bidyaluxmi, who is also the General Secretary of Ibotonsana Girls Higher Secondary School Students’ Union, said that they have decided to launch the agitation as part of their ongoing movement for boycotting of government educational institutes.
Stating that failure to produce a bill within the set deadline shows the governments indecisiveness towards the ongoing movement, she said that until and unless the government introduce a people’s Bill they will continue their fasting.
