First B.G Passenger train service flag off from Silchar to Vangaichungpao railway station

Jiribam, July 2:

The first passenger train service from Vangaichungpao railway station under Tamenglong District of Manipur to Silchar was flag off on the new Broad Gauge railway line project Jiribam- Imphal road.
 As a part of the flag-off ceremony, railway officials from Silchar reached Jiribam railway station on Broad gauge train and hosted tricolour national flag accompanied by the National anthem.
Later, the train proceeded from Jiribam railway station to Vangaichungpao railway station.
The Vangaichungpao railway station is 11 km from Jiribam station.
The flag-off programme was attended by Nripen Bhattacharya, Senior Public Relations Officer, N.F. Railway; Abdul Hakim, CDO/ Silchar, N.F.Railway; D.K. Kakati, ADEN/BPG; S. Das, ADEE/ AGR; D. Bhagawati, AXEN/CON, Jiribam and S. Roy Choudhury, J.E/W/CON, Jiribam.
Speaking to media persons Nripen Bhattacharya, Senior Public Relations Officer, N. F. Railway said today the Broad gauge train service was extended up to Vangaichungpao railway station. He added, the passenger service train will also start very soon from Vangaichungpao to Silchar and further destination of the country.  
He also said the extension of train service up to Vangaichungpao will be highly beneficial to the people of Manipur for transportation to the other part of the nation.
