Fire safety week held at Classic Hotel

There are only sixteen fire substations in the whole state of Manipur which makes the Manipur Fire Service difficult to manage fire break out, said the divisional officer, Manipur fire service, Head Quarter, Nabachandra today at Hotel Classic, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion of a weeklong fire safety week program held today at Classic Hotel, Imphal, Nabachandra said that remembering the disastrous ship explosion in the Victoria dock of Mumbai on April 14, 1944 in which 66 fireman died while controlling the fire and to pay tribute to the fire fighters the week long fire safety week is being organised in every parts of the country every year.
Nabachandra further said that fire safety is very important and the awareness should be spread to every individual. He said a mock exercise or a fire drill should be conducted regularly in every hotels or buildings. He said that every hotels or buildings should have the fire safety designs. In case of fire breakout at any hotel he instructed every individual who are inside the hotel to not panic and use the safety norms to follow during evacuation. He said cooperation is also necessary among all the employees to fight against any fire break out.
While interacting with the staffs of Classic hotel, the fireman and the media who are present at the fire safety week Nabachandra said that there are various difficulties faced by the Manipur Fire Service. He said there are only sixteen fire substations in the whole state and there are only eight sub divisional headquarters whereas not even one in Imphal east district. Hence MFS finds it difficult to maintain the whole state of fire break out.
