Families of Involuntarily Disappeared’s Association, Manipur (FIDAM) and Human Rights Alert (HRA) today withdrew the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which was filed to the Manipur High Court on 29th Dec, 2014 seeking thorough investigation on the recent recovery of eight human skulls at the erstwhile Tombisana High School, Imphal. The two bodies had withdrawn the PIL today as the cabinet announced the matter to be handed over to the CBI on the evening of Dec. 29.Addressing reporters at a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Babloo Loitongbam, Executive Director, Human Rights’ Activist said even though the matter had been handed over to the CBI on 29th Dec, 14 there is a lapse of nine days and the government has not issued the gazette notification which is the first step of handing over the matter to CBI. He further mentioned that even after due notification and consent by the Manipur Government under section 6 of the Delhi special police establishment Act, the central government should also issue notification under section 5 of the same Act.Secretary of FIDAM, Md. Baniyamin said that they cannot remain quite even if the matter has been handed over to CBI, hence FIDAM will conduct family visit of all the disappeared’s victim and will decide on the course of action to be taken to fight for the justice on the issue.
