Imphal, Nov 24: While the people of the State are enjoying the Sangai festival 2016, Organisers and the Department of Tourism seem to have forgotten the people with disabilities or differently able persons.
In this Sangai Festival, 2016, the organisers and Tourism Department have not provided any facilities which could assist the people with disabilities instead they are made to walk all the way from the parking lot at Andro Bus Parking and the Palace Gate to the main venue.
Even people with disabilities with artificial limbs, faced lot of trouble to walk the distance from the parking lot to the venue, to the stalls.
Not only walking up to the venue, they had to pass through several hurdles like standing in queues, security checking to enter the venue.
However, what is disheartening is that the people who are assisting the disabilities all through the venue of Sangai festival were asked to get a ticket to enter.
This shows the negligence of the organisers and the department of tourism that they are not aware of the difficulties and hurdle being faced by the disable persons.
On the other hand, the organisers have failed to provide any wheelchairs to help any person with disability. There are no ramp facilities at the venue for the disable persons either.
