Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations, Manipur (FEGOCTA) temporarily suspends all forms of democratic protests from 7th December, 2021 onwards by the Government College Teachers. It is after confirmation of the approval by AG Office, a central government office to issue 7th UGC Pay slips. There is possibility of issuing revised pay slips of the College teachers soon. The college teachers started democratic protests by wearing black badges etc from 29th November onwards demanding full implementation of national policy of 7th UGC Pay in Manipur.
FEGOCTA again appeals to the concerned authorities of the Government of Manipur to send the reply of AG Office’s queries on SCA and TA from 1st April to 30th June, 2021 and on granting pensionary benefits to the retired College teachers. The failure to send reply even after 3 months of AG Office’s request by the Government is disappointing and a serious concern.
The above decisions were taken at the Emergency Executive Committee Meeting of FEGOCTA held on 6th December, 2021. FEGOCTA demands the timely and full implementation of all the national policies of UGC, NAAC, RUSA etc for transforming collegiate education in Manipur. The above meeting of FEGOCTA reconfirmed the fundamental right of the citizens and employees to form associations and protest peacefully for the democratic rights as guaranteed under Article 19 of the Constitution of India. The college teachers took up protests only as the last resort and after the failure by the concerned authorities on the repeated genuine requests of FEGOCTA.
