Eviction to begin in Kakching district too, DC issues notice

The Deputy Commissioner of Kakching District, Rohit Anand, has issued a public notification ordering the removal of all unauthorized structures encroaching upon public roads and spaces across the district. The directive comes following multiple complaints regarding illegal extensions of houses, shops, and sheds—both temporary and permanent—that have been obstructing traffic and creating safety hazards.
Citing powers under Section 15(1) of the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act, 1960, and Section 3 of the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1971, the Deputy Commissioner has set a deadline of 3:00 PM on August 8, 2025, for the voluntary removal of such encroachments.
The order applies to unauthorized constructions on National and State Highways, Inter-District and Inter-Village Roads, as well as footpaths throughout Kakching District. Failure to comply will invite strict penal action, and the district administration will initiate eviction and demolition with assistance from the police and other concerned departments. All costs incurred during the operation will be recovered from the encroachers.
The move aims to restore civic order, ensure smooth flow of traffic, and enhance public safety across the district.
