Every Indian’s responsibility to strengthen Bharat: CM N Biren Singh

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has said that it is the responsibility of every Indian to strengthen Bharat and that there can be no compromise in making One India, Strong India.
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the observance of Vijay Diwas (Indo-Pak War 1971) held at the 1st Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall, today.
It is a memorable and significant war for India’s military history, the Chief Minister said sharing a brief history of the war. Further applauding the valour of the Indian Army, the Chief Minister said that the war concluded in only 13 days.
The Chief Minister further said that as part of India’s Foreign Policy, it is very important to maintain a good diplomatic relation with the neighbouring countries. He also highlighted efforts taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in developing international relations including with neighbours like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan.
The Chief Minister also applauded and appreciated all security forces, police in the State for their effort in tackling the present situation and in bringing back peace in the State. Sometimes, misunderstandings creep up, but through joint efforts of all security forces, State police and with support of the people, the situation has improved, he added.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh strongly cautioned against taking what is happening in the border areas lightly. We cannot take what is happening in Myanmar easily, he said hinting at influx of foreigners.
Stressing that efforts are underway in the areas of Kamjong and Ukhrul using biometrics under the concerned DCs, the Chief Minister said security forces should also not neglect areas like Behiang which is bordering with Myanmar and should take it seriously considering reports of aggressive fighting in the neighbouring country.
He further expressed need to open similar and proper camps with biometric and civil police teams in different border areas. He continued that we cannot deny humanitarian assistance to those fleeing their country due to the violence and we are providing medicines and tents for them, but we need to identify them by collecting biometric data and provide temporary shelter. We are only asking them not to construct villages in the State.
Artistes of the Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Government Music College, Imphal performed the opening and closing songs of the observance organised by the Government of Manipur.
The observance was attended by Minister Th. Biswajit Singh as the president. Ministers, MLAs, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, high ranking civil and police officers also attended the observance.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Minister L. Susindro Meitei also inspected the ongoing construction work of the Police HQ.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister also attended a function for distribution of potato seeds organised by Economic & Resource Development Organisation (ERDO).
During the simple function at the at Durbar Hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariat, N. Biren Singh lauded and appreciated the organisation. He said that their policy of providing seeds and then buying back the harvested potatoes from the farmers is a laudable initiative.
The Chief Minister also highlighted some developmental schemes like the CMHT, School Fagathansi Mission, Start-up and others taken up for the welfare of the people and said that under the present government Manipur is going forward and quality of life has improved tremendously in the State.
Commissioner (Horti & Soil Conservation) T Panmei also attended the function.
