Enquiry on Manipur University crisis underway, Committee asked AP Pandey to submit statement on or before September 24

The two members Independent Enquiry Committee constituted by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India, have asked Prof. Adya Prasad Pandey to submit written statement in the form of Affidavit within September 24. The committee also asked the Prof. to appear in person before the Committee on September 26, 27 and 28. Witnesses will be recorded on the mentioned days and the Professor’s appearance is a must, a source said.

The enquiry committee office is located at Room No. 201 of Hotel Classic Imphal and the working hour is 10.00 am to 5 pm.

Day before yesterday the Manipur University Teachers’ Association (MUTA), Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) and Manipur University Staffs’ Association (MUSA) had filed written statement in the form of affidavit along with the list of supporting document. The list of supporting documents consists of 31 documents.

Some other students had also filed statements in the form of affidavits after taking permission from the enquiry committee.

The two member Independent enquiry committee comprises of Justice T. Nandakumar Singh as Chairman and Prof. MK Choudhary as member.

Meanwhile, hearing of the case filed by Prof. A P Pandey at Manipur High Court has been differed on September 28. Details of the hearing could not be obtained at the moment but source said that the divisional bench which is hearing the case could not proceed as Prof. A P Pandey had also filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) at the Supreme Court.

Mentioned may be made that Prof. AP Pandey had challenge the constitution of the Enquiry Committee and the signing of the Memorandum of understanding between the MHRD, GoM and MU community on August 16.
