Eli. Lepsopthei Kasar: From Ukhrul’s Classrooms to National Podiums, A Rising Star in Science and Speech

Special Correspondent
Ukhrul, August 7:

In the quiet hill town of Ukhrul, where stories often go unheard, a young voice is rising—resonant, articulate, and inspiring. Meet Lepsopthei Kasar, a gifted academic and eloquent public speaker whose journey from a humble school desk to national platforms is a powerful testament to discipline, talent, and rooted identity.
Currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Chemistry at Manipur University, Lepsopthei is not just another bright student—she is a gold medalist, having topped her graduating batch in B.Sc. Chemistry from Dhanamanjuri College of Science, Imphal in 2024. Her academic brilliance is complemented by her gift of oratory, which has made her a celebrated name in youth representation across the country.
Lepsopthei’s educational foundation was laid at Savio School, Ukhrul, where she completed both her matriculation in 2018 and higher secondary in 2020. Always curious, always expressive, her passion for both science and public discourse matured alongside her academic milestones.
What sets Lepsopthei apart is her rare combination of analytical sharpness and communicative flair. In 2024, she secured 3rd position at the Zonal Elocution Competition in Tripura. She went on to claim 4th place at the prestigious National Elocution Contest during the 38th All Indian University Youth Festival 2025, competing among top minds from across the country.
Perhaps her most remarkable public appearance came when she took the stage as an Opening Speaker at the National Youth Parliament, Parliament of India in 2025—an honour reserved for the most promising young voices in India. She is also the district and state winner of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, where she spoke boldly on youth policy, grassroots development, and the role of education in tribal societies.
“Representing my community on national platforms is not just a personal honour—it’s a voice for every youth from Ukhrul who dares to dream,” Lepsopthei shared in an interaction.
Multilingual in English, Hindi, and Tangkhul, and gifted in creative writing, cultural commentary, and team coordination, she continues to be a guiding light for many students in Manipur who seek to balance academic excellence with community consciousness.
As she continues her academic pursuit in Chemistry, Lepsopthei remains committed to being a bridge between traditional knowledge and modern science, between tribal identity and national discourse.
