The Silver Jubilee of the monthly journal, Eikhoigi Panthung has been celebrated this morning at its office at Keishamthong Laishom Leirak Machin, Imphal West District, Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of the United People’s Front (UPF), Nongthombam Rupchandra said that the monthly journal has now become fruitful as it has many customers. In the year 2000, in its first existence, there were a lot of hurdles to make it functional. He was also one of the first members of the Journal. The aim and objectives of the journal which is published under the guidance and sponsorship of UPF is nothing but to boost up the morale of the younger generations as the future of the society solely depends upon their activities. We should do something for their welfare.
He said that the youngsters take a lead role to preserve and protect the emotional and territorial integrity of the State during this conflict situation. They are now reeling under pressure in safeguarding the people of the State society that no-one is in danger but their livelihood is uncertainty. If the situation goes further, what will their future be? This is the thing we should think about for them. He urged the government to do something for their livelihood whenever they return to their home after the conflict situation ends.
He thanked the staff of the monthly journal, Eikhoigi Panthung to make it a good publication and comparable to other journals despite their meagre monthly remunerations.
The President of UCM YK Dhiren, the founder President of UPF Khomdram Ratan, the former president of UPF Soraisam Ratankumar and among prominent journalists attended the function.
