Eastern Command Chief visits Manipur

Lieutenant General Amrik Singh, SM, Chief of Staff, Eastern Command arrived in the state on two day visit to HQ IGAR (South) from 20 to 21 January 2016.
The COS was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the state by Major Gen VS Sreenivas, VSM**, IG AR (South). The COS reviewed the operational preparedness of the formation during his official visit to the state. The COS lauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles for maintenance of peace and harmony in the state. He appreciated the efforts of IGAR (South) and also conveyed his support to various developmental projects in the state in coordination with the civil administration and local populace.
The COS lauded the efforts of the soldiers for ensuring peace and tranquillity in the state and asked them to continue the good work in a professional manner and in the true spirit of the “Friends of the North East People”
