Dr. Shantikumar seeks Congress ticket from Lakhipur

Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections scheduled for 2026, Dr. Maimom Shantikumar Singh, General Secretary of the Cachar District Congress, has submitted his application seeking the party nomination from the Lakhipur Assembly constituency. The application, along with the required documents, was submitted at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati on January 16.
Several Congress leaders and party workers, including Rajib Das, Subhas Passi, Bikash Barman, Ton Singh, Monikumar Singh and Bappa Sen, were present to extend support to Dr. Shantikumar Singh at the time of submission.
Doctor Shantikumar Singh has been associated with the Congress for several years and has served as a party observer, working to strengthen the organisational base of the party in the Lakhipur area. Party sources said that he has been actively involved in grassroots level activities and organisational work in the constituency.
Expressing optimism, Doctor Shantikumar Singh said he hopes the party leadership will consider his long standing association and contributions while finalising the candidate for the Lakhipur seat.
