Imphal, July 18:

Dhanamanjuri University authorities have decided to announce the results of the teaching and non-teaching staff by this evening, following today’s crucial Syndicate Meeting at the Administrative Block. However, despite this decision, students have vowed to continue their hunger strike until they receive the appointment letters for the new Vice-Chancellor.
IAS Gyan Prakash, Commissioner of Higher Education and Acting Vice Chancellor of DM University, addressed the media and confirmed that the syndicate meeting has taken place and it has given approval for the announcement of the results for the appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff. “The syndicate has agreed, so we will be declaring the results hopefully by this evening,” he stated.
Regarding the appointment of a new VC, Gyan Prakash said that the list of names of qualified Professors will be handed over to the select committee, and as per the recommendation of the select committee the new VC will be appointed.
H Gyan Prakash has also announced that student examinations would be conducted soon, with results expected by 20 August. He emphasized the university’s commitment to expediting classes and the declaration of results. He acknowledged the delay due to a shortage of non-teaching staff but assured that steps were being taken to rectify this.
In his appeal to students, including those engaged in protests and hunger strikes, acting VC urged them to end their activities as their demands are being met today and to focus on their studies.
Despite these assurances, the Student Union of Dhanamanjuri University has declared that they will continue their hunger strike until the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor is confirmed. Speaking at the protest site, DMU student union president Takhellambam Dijen announced the union’s plans to persist with their hunger strike until they receive the appointment letter of the new VC. He acknowledged the progress made regarding their demands, crediting the strong student movement for these advancements. However, he also criticized the administration for only taking action in response to student protests.
