Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam today chaired a one-day district-level meeting of the District Task Force on Immunisation at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The meeting, organized by the District Health Society Bishnupur, was held in preparation for the upcoming Sub-National Immunisation Day and Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) 2025, scheduled to be launched on October 12, 2025.
In her address, DC Pooja Elangbam emphasized the vital role of immunization in safeguarding public health. She urged all stakeholders to work in close coordination to ensure the success of the IPPI campaign and reiterated the district administration’s commitment to achieving polio eradication.
During the meeting, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. L. Kuber Singh presented the annual immunization plan, outlining key focus areas, targets, and challenges. The plan highlighted an estimated 16,553 children under five years in the district for immunization. To meet this target, a total of 18,374 doses of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) will be required, distributed through 919 OPV vials.
Dr. L. Kuber Singh also briefed the members on the preparatory activities already undertaken, including a one-day district-level workshop for IPPI supervisors and training for vaccinators, both conducted on October 6, 2025. He also informed about the upcoming public awareness campaigns scheduled for October 10 and 11, aimed at maximizing community participation and ensuring smooth implementation of the immunization drive.
The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. L. Raichandra, also the co-chairman of the task force, along with all other members of the District Task Force.
