A District-Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) committee meeting for Kangpokpi District was held today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office to strengthen coordination between the District Administration and Central and State uniformed forces.
District Collector and NCORD Chairperson Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, provided a detailed overview of the NCORD structure and functioning at the national, state, and district levels. He emphasized the committee’s core objective of combating drug abuse, trafficking, and the consumption of tobacco and alcohol. The Chairperson reviewed reports from the State Police, BSF, CRPF, and other agencies, assessing ongoing actions and future plans to curb substance abuse in the district.
Commending the efforts of the district police and paramilitary forces, Mr. Chaudhari urged strict vigilance to prevent narcotics sales near educational institutions. He also requested the District Transport Officer and paramilitary personnel to continue frequent frisking operations along NH-2 and NH-37 to intercept drug trafficking. The session underscored the importance of collaborative action for a safer community.
The meeting was attended by SP Kangpokpi Manoj Prabhakar IPS, SDO T-Waichong Hemant Kumar IAS, ADC N Shokhongam Baite MCS, CEO SH-ADC James Doujapao Haokip MCS, NCORD committee members, Central police personnel, and other district officials.
